A 12V linear actuator is typical for lawn tractors. Most mower batteries can run an actuator for short cycles, but use a properly sized relay/solenoid and an inline fuse. If you plan frequent/heavy use, consider a dedicated battery or higher-capacity battery to avoid draining the starter.
